prendío

What it means

1. 1.

   Of a party or a place: going hard, full of people, at its peak. 'Esto tá prendío' is the announcement that the night has arrived.

2. 2.

   Of a person: drunk or high, or simply in a wild mood. Milder than jumo and vaguer about the cause.

Where it comes from

Past participle of prender, to light or switch on, with the usual Dominican loss of the intervocalic /d/. The same metaphor English reached with 'lit', arrived at independently and rather earlier.
