   Fine; all right; good enough. The standard low-effort reply to 'how are you' and to 'what did you think', and a genuine positive — норм is not damning with faint praise.

2. 2.

   Born as a typed abbreviation and now said aloud. Indeclinable, which is unusual for an adjective and marks its written origin.

Where it comes from

A clipping of нормально, shortened for speed in SMS and messenger chat in the 2000s and then carried back into speech — the same round trip that produced спс for спасибо and пж for пожалуйста.
