   Value for money. コスパがいい is good value; コスパが悪い is a rip-off.

   The pattern has spread: タイパ (タイムパフォーマンス) is the same judgement applied to time, and is now the commoner complaint among younger speakers.

Where it comes from

A four-syllable clipping of コストパフォーマンス, English 'cost performance'. Japanese compresses long loanwords to four morae as a rule — パソコン, リモコン, スマホ — and コスパ is a textbook case.
