  Note: The verb phrase is the older form and is used across the north and in Donegal.

Where it comes from

From 'melting my head', the northern equivalent of 'doing my head in'. The agent noun is recent — it spread beyond Ulster in the 2010s, helped by Derry-set television, and southern speakers now use it half-quoting.
